Our approach to sustainability is based on the belief that protecting the environment and reducing costs go hand in hand. This belief is backed up by the fact we’ve made great strides in terms of our own environmental performance which has directly helped us to lower expenditure for our customers.
We want to have a positive impact on people and the planet. For us, doing less harm is no longer enough. The future of sustainability lies in regeneration: seeking to restore and replenish what we have lost, supporting economies and communities to thrive and allowing the planet to thrive too.

We like to think our record speaks for itself. UKOS ranked in the highly respected Sunday Times Best Green Companies list for each of the 3 years it was compiled and on one occasion ranked 1st position – Britain’s Best Green Company.
Our customers are equally exacting when it comes to sustainability with 92% of them saying sustainable practices should now be standard business practice.
Through a combination of internal reductions and emission reduction projects around the world we have reduced our emissions to net zero in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol. As a result, we have achieved CarbonNeutral® certification.
To demonstrate our commitment to protecting the environment, we have 14001 certification. Implementing this global standard also helps us to strengthen trust with our customers and other stakeholders.
We are working towards ISO 20400, the world’s first international standard for sustainable procurement, to assist us to integrate sustainability into procurement processes to increase supply chain transparency.
Three years ago we set ourselves an ambitious target to divert all waste from landfill, as part of an overall waste transformation plan. We are on target to achieve our five year goal.
