UKOS supports those who need extra care or support, practical or emotional, to lead an active life and do the things many of us take for granted. Amber Spotlight uses inclusive, relaxed, fun and creative sessions in both music and drama to make a positive difference to the lives of adults with learning and physical disabilities, challenging behaviour and autism.
At UKOS, we are proud of the fantastic relationship we have built with Amber Spotlight to use music and drama in helping people develop musicality skills, acting skills, self-esteem, confidence and much more
Music plays a fundamental role in our identity and is a powerful medium which uses the whole of our brains. Music can stir memories and resonate with feelings, enabling people to express themselves in a different way and communicate in a way that is easier for them. We use a wide range of instruments and musical styles with clients, who then find their own unique way to connect with the world and express themselves
In a similar way to music, drama can be used to facilitate personal growth and promote all round health. People will take on a role or part of a story, thus embracing a new perspective of themselves and indeed the character. Using drama to shed light on feelings and behaviours of a person can help us teach them ways to manage their feelings and control their actions which they may struggle with. Amber Spotlight currently takes place weekly in a local church, being an important part of the community, however we wish to expand this to all areas of the UK and establish a Disability Rock Choir.
