UKOS is working towards ISO 20400, the global standard for sustainable procurement, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. For us, this includes exploring ways to work with circular procurement models to save materials and increase the share of renewable, recyclable or recycled materials in our ranges. It also means offering our customers a range of convenient solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Our deliveries are made using sustainable packaging – 100% biodegradable, FSC and PEFC recycled and recyclable bags wherever possible, which can be passed back to a driver on their next delivery, or recycled through our paper recycling service.

In cases where a recyclable cardboard box has been used, UKOS drivers will collect them on their next delivery and return to the depot for recycling.

We also minimise additional packaging by keeping products in original supplier wrapping where possible. Where multiple items are purchased and supplier wrapping is utilised, we will place both items in this original packaging, eliminating further waste.

ENERGY

LED lightbulbs use up to 85% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last for up to 20 years. Our smart lighting range includes motion sensors to ensure that lights are only on when they’re needed.
WASTE

Our rechargeable batteries can be charged up to 1,500 times, reducing battery waste and saving money. Our waste sorting bins help customers to easily sort waste and recycle, saving valuable resources from landfill.
CATERING PRODUCTS

UKOS offer a wide range of fairtrade catering products, from tea and coffee to sugar and sweetener, enabling our customers to guarantee that the source of the products they buy are ethical and paid a fair wage for their contribution.
SINGLE USE PLASTICS

UKOS has adopted a single-use plastic policy, to reduce singleuse plastics from our product range and offer use of certified compostable single use items where possible.

UKOS paper is a superwhite, thick and smooth paper made from Eucalyptus Globulus fibre. It carries the PEFC label, is fully carbon neutral and also holds the Ecolabel which is accredited only to products delivering high quality environmental performance
